What is SF Cultural Heritage?
SF Cultural Heritage lets you share and explore the important places, people, organizations, events, and traditions that have shaped San Francisco's diverse communities.
SF Cultural Heritage is an online information management platform created specifically for the San Francisco Citywide Cultural Resources Survey (SF Survey). This website is a tool that highlights the interconnections of San Francisco's cultural heritage and shares SF Survey findings.
SF Survey findings help standardize historic resource review processes for future building permit applications, environmental review, development projects, and area plans. Outcomes also include identifying sites that are eligible for California Historical Building Code, legacy business registry, tax benefits, and/ or local landmarking. Find out more about Draft SF Survey Findings.
Access property-specific reports for the Draft SF Survey Findings available below. After adoption by the Historic Preservation Commission, the Draft SF Survey Findings are reflected in the San Francisco Property Information Map.
SF Cultural Heritage is the result of a partnership between the San Francisco Planning Department and the Getty Conservation Institute, with the assistance of Farallon Geographics. It is powered by Arches, an open-source heritage data management platform developed by the Getty Conservation Institute and the World Monuments Fund.
